Show Up For Life
Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busy work, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness that no one will see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ. Wake up from your sleep, Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light! So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times! Don’t live carelessly, unthinkingly. Make sure you understand what the Master wants. Don’t drink too much wine. That cheapens your life. Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him. Sing hymns instead of drinking songs! Sing songs from your heart to Christ. Sing praises over everything, any excuse for a song to God the Father in the name of our Master, Jesus Christ.

– Reflection:
I know people who lost what they had by being so intent on going after what they wanted at the present time that had no value. They missed their child growing up and the joy of their relationship with their spouse. They came home, but they weren’t there. They were distracted, always planning for the future, and never came into the present. Really think about what being in the moment means. I have taken less throughout my career to be there with my family, to see my wife, and to talk to her in the evenings. Sure, I could be making so much more money if I would sacrifice what GOD holds important. Money is a tool, not a destination; use it to allow yourself to be in the moment. Goals are great to have, they give you perspective and something to work toward, but we can’t allow the goal to be who we are.
Where do we go from here?
Today’s Scripture is pointing out ways to make the most of this very moment. What are you doing with today? Are you holding on strong where you are, are you present and connected, or are you present and disengaged? You have to make up your mind that you’re going to enjoy each moment, make up your mind to enjoy your family, enjoy the people with whom you work, and enjoy all the good of creation.
Our Prayer for Today
Father, thank You for calling us to make the most of every moment of every day. Thank You for the people You have brought into our lives. Help us to give them our full focus and love. We declare that we have made up our minds to enjoy them and not miss out on a moment of being present. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
